Turnbull Stakes — Flemington, Australia
Defending champion Sir Delius headlines Saturday’s Turnbull Stakes as he steps up to his preferred 2000 metres. Chris Waller’s high-class mare Aeliana comes off a strong second in the 7 Stakes, while Cosmic Crusader looks to go one better after his Underwood Stakes second. With spring’s major targets approaching, this Group 1 promises to be a key test of carnival credentials.
Epsom Handicap — Randwick, Australia
Saturday’s Epsom sets up a compelling mile showdown, with Autumn Boy well drawn in barrier one. Unbeaten New Zealand mare Well Written puts her perfect record on the line against the local milers, while Attica and Ceolwulf add depth to a competitive handicap. Can the Kiwi maintain her winning streak on Australian soil?
Japanese Features — Tokyo & Kyoto, Japan
Two Grade 2 autumn features headline Sunday’s racing in Japan. Tokyo’s Mainichi Okan brings the milers and middle-distance contenders together over 1800 metres, while the stayers take centre stage in Kyoto’s 2400-metre Kyoto Daishoten. Both races offer an early guide to the contenders for Japan’s major autumn Group 1s.
